Nightly’s Homecoming Show in Philadelphia

Indie-pop band Nightly brought their newest album, songs to drive to, to life at their homecoming show at the Theater of Living Arts in Philadelphia, PA. The now Nashville based band released the album on March 7, 2025, exploring themes of love, grief, and appreciating the little things. Nightly will be joined by different openers throughout the tour, but in Philadelphia, openers Brooke Alexx and Wil Linley helped get the crowd ready for the headlining act.

Nightly opened the show with their first single from the album, “tv shows.” They played 5 other songs from the new album, songs to drive to, including “TALK,” “gas station cowboy hats,” “time flies when you’re having fun,” “MESS,” and “where do we go from here.” They also played some crowd favorites, like “hate my favorite band,” “the movies,” and “Twenty Something.” In the middle of their set, they played some acoustic songs that were chosen by audience request and voting, including “ Black Coffee,” and “No Vacancy.” They followed up the slowed down section of the setlist with a cover of “All Star” by Smash Mouth, which obviously the crowd got super into.

Nightly were welcomed back to their hometown area with open arms and excited fans. The energy stayed high from start to finish, even when things slowed down. It was clear how connected the band stays with their fans by how interactive they were and how much they included the fans, making the audience feel like we were part of the show too.

Nightly brings such a personal vibe to their shows that it really feels like they are performing to a room full of friends and family, and really make their fans feel like they are part of something special. Their music is overall mellow with a touch of rock, and explores themes that anyone can relate to. The first time I ever saw them, I was unfamiliar with their music, but genuinely spent their entire set sobbing. Very relatable. If you’re looking for a band that feels like family, a fandom that is welcoming and friendly, and music that brings feelings to life, Nightly may be exactly what you’re looking for.
