The Two Lips - °1824 Press Conference

LA-based best friends Jewlz & Andrea immerse themselves in their music by using womanhood and personal experiences to express how they feel. The indie dream pop duo The Two Lips has captured the attention of people with their dreamy, hazy, and ethereal sounds. Their viral song “still love you (todavia)” blends bilingual lyrics with soothing melodies.

The band has been touring parts of California, bringing fans live performances of their songs. With the release of their new songs “Clue” and “Talk”, The Two Lips took the time to chat with us about their music process, touring, and more at their press conference hosted by °1824.

The band draws inspiration from artists and bands like The Marias, Lily Allen, and Yeah Yeah Yeah. The early 2000s mixed with modern music is how the band would describe the sound of their music. They take a bit of what they like and “Tulipify” it to their liking.

Being in a band with your best friend has made the music process more at ease, as Jewlz & Andrea use their strengths and weaknesses to balance each other out. “We both have our individual influences,” Jewlz said, but what makes them unique as a band is that they understand each other and know how they want their music to sound.

Signing with a record label like Islands Records has opened the doors to more resources and has changed the music process a bit. Putting the group in more writing sessions with more creatives. Starting, they were limited to how they wanted to sound, and now having a producer who knows areas that need changes. “The people that we let in understand us, and they want the best for us,” Andrea said

“A surreal moment being able to do it together with people coming to the shows,” Andrea mentioned, as she was describing what it was like to be performing their songs with a band. Jewlz and Andrea are happy with how the tour has been going because having the backing of the band just makes the music more profound. Even their visuals illustrate who they are as a group.

The beauty of womanhood holds an importance to the group, as there aren’t many artists and bands writing stuff that relates to them. Embracing qualities that make them different from others. Trying to amplify the differences between girlhood and womanhood. “I’m a woman and we’re women and it is important to highlight that in our music,” Andrea said.

This is only the beginning for The Two Lips as they embark further into the future of their music journey as a group.

Check out their latest singles “Clue” and “Talk,” which are out now on Apple Music and Spotify.
