Burnout Days Tour: Flipturn in Sacramento, CA
Last Thursday, flipturn played to a full house at Sacramento’s newest concert venue, Channel 24. The indie rockers created an energetic atmosphere with their radiant energy and stage presence.
Opening the show was Sun Room, a surf rock band from San Diego, CA. Sun Room joined flipturn on tour following the release of their newest EP, Ritual of Chaos. The band’s grungy and loud rock sound was a perfect way to start the night. Songs like “Hate It When You Call” and “Cadillac” brought up the crowd’s energy, preparing them for flipturn’s set.
From the front row to the balcony, fans were aching for flipturn to take the stage. The lights dimmed before they came out, and the band immediately lit up the room with their energy. They opened their set with “Burn” and “Weepy Woman” from their 2022 album Shadowglow. Their set continued with songs from their latest album Burnout Days such as “Juno”, “Inner Wave”, and “Burnout Days”.
The band’s charismatic and engaging stage presence had their audience hooked from start to finish. Their energy was infectious, and the crowd never stopped jumping along with the band. Throughout the show, their lighting design perfectly matched the vibe of each song and helped create an engaging show with seamless transitions.
They continued the show with a mix of older and newer songs like “Rodeo Clown”, “Whales”, and “Six Below”. Next was their hit song “August”, which was a clear crowd favorite. Fans across the room belted back every lyric, and those in the front row were jumping up and down, matching the band’s energy.
“When we first came here I think we played to 200 people,” said lead singer Dillon. “Thank you for listening to the music, thank you for telling your friends, we would not be in Sacramento without you all.” As the night neared its end, it was clear their Sacramento fans weren’t ready to leave.
The band returned for an encore, and the crowd gave them a warm welcome back to the stage. They ended the show with older songs “Churches”, “Chicago”, and “Nickel”. As the band left the stage, each member interacted with fans in the front row, personally handing out setlists, guitar picks, and drumsticks.
