LØLØ Brings “U TOUR ME ON” to Washington, DC for a Sold Out Show
Born and raised in Toronto, singer-songwriter, LØLØ, got her start like many artists by performing locally in her hometown. She released her first single, “Yours,” in 2018 and followed it up with her first EP, Sweater Collection, in 2019 before the pandemic. She gained popularity on Tiktok during the lockdown and continued writing music throughout that time. In just three short years of her first music release, LØLØ signed to Hopeless Records and began touring, opening up for artists like Simple Plan and Boys Like Girls. Now she is currently headlining her very first tour in the US called U Tour Me On, a reference to her popular song, “u turn me on (but you give me depression),” which has over 26 million streams on Spotify.
The tour celebrates her debut album falling for robots and wishing i was one, which has The Wizard of Oz-inspired themes and album art. During her show, she creates a unique world for her audience that incorporates motifs from the movie including a robot figure that is symbolic of the tin man, an image of a small dog on her kick drum head similar to Toto, and even a yellow brick road across the stage floor.
LØLØ’s fourth tour stop was in Washington DC at The Atlantis on February 23, 2025. During the show, LØLØ mentioned she was not feeling her best and thought she might have to cancel, but she was determined to play for her fans. Even though she was feeling under the weather, she delivered an incredible performance to a sold out crowd on Sunday night as the audience was there to encourage her and lift her up the entire evening.
Opening with a pre-recorded version of her album intro, she replaced the lyrics “I’d like to go back to Scotland” with “DC,” before joining the rest of her band on stage for her first song of the evening, “omg.”
About half way through the set there were a few notable fan interactions that made the show extra special for some audience members. One fan had a sign that offered a bracelet for guitar pick trade which is always cool because you get to leave with something that was used by the artist. The other standout moment was someone asking LØLØ to draw a tattoo for them to get when they turn 18. These small moments may seem insignificant to others but they are always my favorite part of a show. I love how they give an identity to a show and make each performance different as it creates connection and one of a kind memories for everyone in attendance.
Throughout the night, LØLØ shared insights into her own life about the songs she was singing and what they mean to her personally. She created a safe space in the venue that night by being vulnerable and relatable in her feelings about heartbreak, mental struggles, and growing up as someone who feels so deeply. Many artists share similar messages at their shows about how you are not alone, but LØLØ is one of the few that make you really believe it. Her ability to not only connect with fans through her music, but make them feel validated and seen is a true gift.
