Indie/Alternative Rock Band from Sacramento releases their newest single “Fences”
On August 30, Mom Cars released their single “Fences.” Mom Cars is an indie/alternative rock band based in Sacramento, CA. They are a four piece, consisting of Brendon Le on rhythm guitar and lead vocals, AJ Derise on bass and vocals, Cole Winters on lead guitar, and Jacob Thrasher on drums. They started Mom Cars in Grass Valley, CA for their high school talent show in 2020. They have come a long way since then, from local shows to touring California, and releasing their debut album in 2023.
“Fences” starts off with a build up of instrumentals, with guitar on its own for a couple measures, before the drums start to kick in. The instrumental alternates throughout the song. There is a point where you will only hear drums and vocals, making it a point to listen to what Brendon is trying to say. He is singing about needing to figure out what is going on in his relationship with whoever he is singing this song for, so he needs to make sure that he is heard, and not just listened to. In the chorus, he says “nothing makes sense, I’m stuck on the fence, and I’m still in my head.” The instruments build up with the lyrics throughout the song, giving the listeners a story that they can follow and resonate with emotionally. Mom Cars has become a favorite for many because of their distinctive instrumentals and intimate lyrics. Listeners can have this song on repeat and not get tired of it, because there will always be a new detail that can be picked up on with every replay.
Mom Cars has some shows coming up this month that you do not want to miss if you are in the area.
